The Fish & The River

The Salt River is an 84 mile long river that starts in the Salt River range. The river flows west out of the mountains and quickly turns north paralleling the Wyoming and Idaho border into the Palisades reservoir at its confluence with the Snake River.

The Salt has a large population of Snake River fine spotted cutthroat and brown trout as well as the infamous Rocky Mountain whitefish. These species make up the majority of the river, but there is always a chance for a rogue brook or rainbow trout.

What to Expect

Your trip includes all the necessary gear for a fun day of fishing assuming you have nothing however if you have your own gear feel free to bring it along. I recommend a 4-6 weight fly rod with floating line.

Wyoming weather can always be unpredictable, so come dressed for the weather report and whatever layers you feel necessary. A rain jacket never hurts either! As for footwear, there is always a chance of your feet getting wet so I recommend water shoes or sandals. Other recommended items are sunscreen, insect repellent, hat and sunglasses.
